After much debate, the Remote Gambling Act will finally enter force. Set the date: March 1, 2021. This is two months later than the originally intended date.
New regulations
The new law regulates the online supply of games of chance in the Netherlands. According to the Dutch government, postponing the date will create more room for all parties involved to prepare for this important change.
Opening of the online gambling market
The online gambling market will open up on September 1, 2021. Both land-based providers and online providers must be connected to the Central Register for the Exclusion of Gaming (CRUKS) from that date.
Strict rules
With the new Remote Gambling Act and the opening of the online gambling market, a number of matters will immediately come into effect. First all, the Gaming Authority’s can use stricter enforcement instruments. Prevention policy for land-based providers will also be stricter, as well as stricter rules for advertisements. Companies will also be obliged to pay for an addiction prevention fund.

Before the law will be officially implemented, the official announcement of all the regulations will take place. The Gaming Authority will share further information on its website, so that all participating parties can prepare for implementation of the Remote Gambling Act.
