History of the Friends Lottery
The Friends Lottery was founded in 1989 on the initiative of Humanitas. Together with the National Postcode Lottery and the BankGiro Lottery, the lottery falls under the Holding National Charity Lotteries. The lottery supports health and wellness charities. Many clubs and associations also receive support. In total, the lottery generated more than 96 million euros in 2011. More than 48 million euros of this went to 41 charities and more than 3,800 clubs and associations in the Netherlands.
